Did you know that American vets think 9 out of 10 dogs are fat? Especially older dogs.
And that this puts a strain on the heart, and from there the rest of the body, which shortens the dog’s life?

Maybe we should all think about it, and do more exercise, which can only be good for us too!

One Response to “Fat dogs”

  1. How to spot if your dog is fat; his ribs should feel like the back of your hand, he should have a waist (think wasp, not bumble bee), you should be able to feel the top of his spine- it should feel like your knuckles. There should not be a roll of fat at the top of his tail or a pad of lard between his fron legs. His tummy should rise behind his ribcage- the degree varies from breed to breed and is minimal in ’round’ dogs like pugs. Get in here….feel your dog!
